Frequently Asked Questions
It's simple. Subscribe for £17.99 a month, browse our catalogue and choose a set, and we'll send it to your chosen InPost locker via InPost's locker network. Build it at your own pace, then box it up and post it back to us — we'll email you an InPost QR code when you're ready to return it. Once we've received and checked the set, you're free to choose your next one. You can rent up to 2 sets per month.
Returning is simple and paperless. When you're ready, just click the 'Request Return' button on your account page. We'll email you an InPost QR code — no printing needed. Take the parcel to any InPost locker or shop, scan your QR code on your phone, and drop it off. You'll receive a tracking notification once it's on its way back to us.
There's no deadline and no rush — that's one of the things we think makes TonOfBricks special. Keep the set for as long as you like while your subscription is active. Build it at your own pace, display it for a while if you want to, and return it when you're ready. If you cancel your subscription, you'll need to return any sets you have out on rental before your subscription ends.
First, don't panic — we do sometimes deliberately leave out a piece or two like a rare minifigure or a piece that is ridiculously valuable, but we'll make sure this is clear on the set information when you choose it. If a piece is missing that wasn't flagged, you can report it directly from your account page — just click the 'Report Missing Pieces' button on your current rental card. You'll be able to describe the missing piece using the part number from the instructions booklet and its colour. We'll look into it and be in touch if we need any more information.
We want TonOfBricks to work for everyone, and that means protecting the sets that are most valuable. By starting with our Apprentice range, you get a chance to experience the rental process and we get to build confidence that sets are being returned safely. Think of it less as a restriction and more as a warm-up. However if you do want to build the Millennium Falcon or one of the other big sets sooner, you can skip the queue after 4 simple builds and pre-pay your subscription to fast forward and get access to bigger sets earlier.
Tier access is based on how long you've been a member, combined with having completed at least 4 rentals. Builder sets unlock after 3 months, Engineer sets after 9 months, and our Master tier — home to our most valuable sets — unlocks after 24 months. You need to have completed at least 4 successful rentals to unlock any tier above Apprentice. If you want to get there faster, our Skip the Queue option lets you prepay months upfront to unlock higher tiers sooner — and the more you prepay, the more you save.
Skip the Queue is our way of letting you fast-track your tier progression by prepaying months of your subscription upfront. Normally, access to our Builder, Engineer and Master sets unlocks gradually over time — but if you want to get there sooner, you can prepay 3, 6, 12 or 24 months in one go. The more you prepay, the more you save compared to paying monthly. You need to have completed at least 4 rentals before you can use Skip the Queue. You can find the Skip the Queue options in your account under the subscription section.
Yes — you can cancel at any time from your account page. Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period and you won't be charged again after that. Any sets currently out on rental must be returned before your subscription ends. If you've prepaid months upfront via Skip the Queue, those months are non-refundable but you'll continue to have access until they run out. Please note that if you have an outstanding payment for missing pieces, you'll need to settle that before cancelling.
Don't panic — small pieces have a habit of hiding under sofas so we understand. You can report any missing pieces directly from your account page using the 'Report Missing Pieces' button on your current rental card. You'll be asked to describe the missing pieces using the part number from the instructions booklet and the colour — you can find part numbers on the parts list page near the end of your instructions. We won't be too worried about small, inexpensive pieces we can replace easily, but if there are lots of pieces or some expensive ones missing when a set comes back to us, we may have to charge a small fee for replacing them before you can rent your next set. This fee will simply be the cost of replacing those pieces, plus postage from a trusted LEGO supplier from the Bricklink network. We won't charge you anything on top.
Postage is charged per rental based on the size of the set — either £3.99, £5.99, £8.99 or £24.99 per dispatch, sent via InPost's locker network. The £24.99 rate applies to our largest and most valuable sets and includes additional insurance. Sets are delivered to your chosen InPost locker — available 24/7 across the UK — and you collect using a QR code sent to your phone. The exact postage cost is shown on each set's page before you rent. When you're ready to return, we'll email you an InPost QR code — return postage is always covered. If you live within a 10 mile radius of RG21 3HF (Basingstoke) in Hampshire, we offer free local delivery and collection direct to your door.
Don't worry — it happens! Just get in touch at info@tonofbricks.co.uk and we'll rearrange at no charge. However, if missed deliveries become a recurring issue we reserve the right to apply a small charge to cover our costs before rearranging. We'll always let you know before any charge is applied.
Yes — every set comes with a QR code attached to the parts bag which links to the building instructions for that set. Just scan it with your phone or tablet and you're good to go. Instructions are available digitally for the vast majority of sets, and we'll always do our best to include a link to the best available instructions for each one.
